Re: True Grit remake

KiwiKev wrote:Just an obvious comment. If Mattie had her dad's Colt Dragoon from the civil war why does a Winchester 1892 and 1894 appear in the film? Am I missing something?
John Wayne carried a Winchester 1892 in many of his westerns even though they were set in time prior to that year.

Re: True Grit remake

Kiwikev says "the girl has a Colt Walker...." Actually in the book and both film versions its a Colt 2nd Model Dragoon .44 caliber which was a successor to the Walker.

Re: Anyone care to speculate how much this Colt will go for

Sold for $15,111 - factory engraved antique Colt SAA is what drove the final price on this I would say.

Re: Anyone care to speculate how much this Colt will go for

I have bought 7 or 8 firearms from "JackTheDog" over the past few years - including a Winchester model 71 very good condition deluxe .348 rifle made in 1949 I got for $1800 about a year ago. He always starts bidding at $1 or is it 1 cent with no reserve. Seems like the guns on his site get...

Re: AUCTION: Winchester 1895 Consecutive #Pair Orig Mfg 1931 NR

I won't bother to look at these guns due to the fact that the seller is a mindless dolt. Any fool who is stupid enough to scream that he will not sell to California isn't worth patronizing. :x I second this about this moron. If he is not an FFL dealer the new CA shipping law does not apply to him -...

Re: FFL's now need permit from Kali to ship there? (CONFIRMED!)

We just got our letter this week. Our shop's attitude isn't Kali friendly ... it got round-filed. The owner said "We don't have to do business with those #@&%$#@&%$" Thats precisely the response the politicians here in CA hoped for when they enacted this looney law. If out of stat...

Re: FFL's now need a special permit from Kali to ship there?

I am FFL dealer in CA and yes starting July 1, 2008 firearms transfers between FFL dealers to or from a CA FFL must comply with the California Firearms License Check Program. Quote from CA DOJ letter: "As of July 1, 2008 CA Penal Code Section 12072(f)(1) prohibits all FFLs from shipping firearm...

Must be true. RSR shows them listed on their website catalog but none in stock.

First Gun Ever Fired

It was a Winchester model 69A .22 bolt action rifle that I bought for $10 from a family friend when I was a teenager. Still have that little beauty and many other hand and long guns acquired over the years.

Re: Winning bid

The winning bid was $4102.00. A little short of what I thought could be high bid but not bad for a rifle that you couldn't hold and inspect. If it was a good price will depend on an accurate description of the bore. If it was accurated then not a bad price. The seller had a very good rating so hope...

CA does recognize Curio Relic handguns

Also, check your state for additional limitations (even though it's a federal license). CA, for example, does not recognize C&R handguns at all. Curio Relic Federally defined handguns are exempt from the Certified List in CA. They cannot be sent to or transferred by a C&R license holder wit...
