Anyone care to speculate how much this Colt will go for
The original owner must have been a wealthy man.

Sure is nice though!
Wish I could afford such things. I'd even take it out for a walk now and then, maybe shoot a few critters with it.
....and heck, they can even ship it directly to you.

Pretty nice old Colt. Almost no finish left and some surface pitting so this one saw at least a lot of carry and probably was shot a lot too. That kinda endears it to me. The factory engraving should bring a premium though. Having been shipped to a New York address means it's not a cowboy gun though. A southwest address would help the price. Makes you wonder where it's been in it's lifetime. I won't speculate on the price.

We've got a fairly nice one at the shop that was factory nickel plated and was made about 1926 if my memory is correct . The metal is about 99% and shows hardly any wear . Only problem is someone replaced the original grips with some not to well fitting wooden ones .
I think I have a local investor on the hook for this one at $5500 . Oh yeah it's a 45 Colt with a 5 1/2" pipe .

Re: Anyone care to speculate how much this Colt will go for
I have bought 7 or 8 firearms from "JackTheDog" over the past few years - including a Winchester model 71 very good condition deluxe .348 rifle made in 1949 I got for $1800 about a year ago. He always starts bidding at $1 or is it 1 cent with no reserve. Seems like the guns on his site get premium prices - I would guess this engraved with letter Colt SAA will go at least $6000 probably more.

4 andf 3/4--the "gunfighter's model".
Its a 4 g gun without the engraving. Add another 100% and I'd say 7 or 8 g's and like "roughing it" says, probably more, depending on how bad each person wants it.---------Sixgun

It would be nice to be able to afford such things.

Seven days to go and over $12,000 high bid now.

Ain't it amazing how auctions drive a man's ego?roughing it wrote:Seven days to go and over $12,000 high bid now.

Sure, its a nice old Colt and well worth a fair investment but if the same gun was on a dealers shelf, the current high bidder for that Colt would turn his nose up on a $7,500 price tag.
Can't remember the amount of times I've seen people pay huge bucks for guns at an auction but turn their noses up for fair priced guns in the parking lot afterwards.

This is the reason I consign my stuff, to JTD. It always sells for a heck of a lot more than I would ever think of selling it for.

Sold for $15,111 - factory engraved antique Colt SAA is what drove the final price on this I would say.
Re: Anyone care to speculate how much this Colt will go for
$15k is a whole lot more than i thought it would go for.

Re: Anyone care to speculate how much this Colt will go for
In a gun-control world that gun would be priceless... If it were known to be some notable, historical person it could be worth ten times the selling price, and it is... it's worth $15K+ to the fellar that bought it... and apparently no one else!
