Re: Why do guides use surgical gloves when skinning in the f
Last year in BC I noticed my guide wore surgical gloves when skinning the animals we killed in the field. What would they be protecting themselves from ? I have skinned animals my whole life and have never thought I needed to protect my hands. Has anyone seen this before? I do believe I remember re...

Re: 338 Marlin Express
I had a pair of Merlins in 308 as well as a pair of Merlins in 338 . Killed a couple deer with the 308's but never bothered with the 338's . If you notice I called them Merlin' s and like the old wizard all four have disappeared from my possession . Might tell you I wasn't overly impressed with eit...

Not yet, but I intend to now that I've retired and have more time to concentrate on fun things like that. They've always seemed like a lot of fun.Merle wrote:For a change of pace, does anyone compete in the MO postal Matches?

Re: rjjohns post on mob violence drew a lot of responses
rjjohns post on mob violence drew a lot of responses & I am wondering if anyone changed their arrangements because of what they read? I reconsidered mine (current carry piece is a Charter arms 44 special, stowed in the car is a S&W model 10 & a Marlin 336 20" 30 WCF) but chose to c...

I don't know any of them by actual name anymore . I always found MM93 , Leverdude , Ranchdog and Gunjunkie to be above board and several other whose names escape me now. The two that I took exception to were the guy who started all the secret 444 bs , he was from Oregon or Washington forget which ....

Re: OT: Move over Columbus??
I think it's pretty-much a given, a foregone conclusion, that both the Vikings and Polynesians came to American centuries before Columbus. They have found Polynesian skulls, bones and boats on the coast of California dating back 3,000 years, Viking boats on the coast of Washington and elsewhere. (si...

Just a word to the wise. Don't talk bad about other forums any where any time unless you want to risk being booted. Many times forum owners or mods search to see what's being said. Rusty ... you know that has never been done, not ever, on the MO. Seriously. You made that up pardner. People don't ge...

Re: Marlin chambered for 460 S&W
This thread finally developed into what I had hoped it would. I feel that my work is almost done - very gratified.
I've been talked out of even thinking about a 460 Levergun - sticking with the 44 and 45/70.

Re: Nylon hose for anti-glare?
A little anti fog RainX and you're problems will be a thing of the past. Just make sure to start off using it sparingly and be sure to polish it in real good the first time you apply it. A little dab will do you ... I'm talking the end of a Q-tip dab.

Re: Marlin 1894CL or Browning 53
I'm a big Marlin fan and I have quite a few, a lot actually, along with a couple of Winchesters, a couple of Rossies a BLR and a Henry. I've never owned a B-53 but I do own a CB LTD which is close to the CL ... yet I have handled a B-53 on several occasions. You're not really comparing apples to app...

Re: Warning - Do not patronize Hyatt properties
Look at this as an OPPORTUNITY... 1. Contact Hyatt and plan some business with them (i.e. to rent a few suites for a 3-4 days). 2. Get to the point of almost sealing-the-deal. 3. Casually ask about their 'firearms' policy, then when told they are a gun-free-zone, 4. Cancel the deal, and followup wi...

Re: Marlin chambered for 460 S&W
Thanks Men ... guess I'll just have to cross my fingers and wait and hope Marlin sees the need. I'm wondering why something in the MX or XLR line could not be bored to handle the 460 S&W though? Seems like 338 has to be pushing similar, if not more, pressures?
Thanks for the welcome.

Marlin chambered for 460 S&W
Has anyone heard any rumblings about a possible factory Marlin in 460 S&W planned once they get moved? Anyone know if Mic has thought about trying to chamber one in 460 S&W yet? Seems like it would be fairly easy to do given the brass/rim similarities between the 454 Casull and the 45 Colt. ...
