Re: OT--Frozen Pizza

I was reading in a newspaper that somebody had stored his Glock in the oven... That actually happened at a home about 2 miles from my house, with tragic results. Apparently the weapon owner stored the Glock (loaded, round in chamber) in the broiler drawer in the bottom of the oven. Someone turned t...

Re: Favorite cartridge

I gotta go with the .44 Mag.

It'll do most anything you need, in most any gun you want. I've got more .44's than any other caliber, and seem to always be wanting more.

Re: Winchester 1894 Feeding Problem

Just for the record, how does the gun work with factory ammo, or reloads using jacketed bullets to factory specs? Are the cases full length resized or just neck sized? What is the O.A.L. of the cartridge? I have no idea of what the Ranch Dog bullet looks like. How do the cartridge guides look? Are ...

Winchester 1894 Feeding Problem

Got a question for the board. I've got a Winchester 1894 30-30 carbine that I'm having some feeding problems. When you cycle the lever, the round will kick out of the magazine and then as you bring the bolt forward, the elevator brings the round nose up to feed into the chamber, the bolt and round g...

Re: Hide & Seek & "There's no such thing as overkill"...

I was hunting in the Koontz Lake area, just outside of Walkerton. I'm from the Granger area and have been in the Dunes State park. Didn't realize that there was that much swampy area there, but did know the up and down parts.

Re: Hide & Seek & "There's no such thing as overkill"...

Looks like some tender vealison to me! :D Personally, I've always figured they all pretty much look the same once they're wrapped in the white paper. I though I had it bad dragging my deer out a swamp this year, but it was no way as swampy as what you're describing (I didn't have to wear hip waders,...

"Nice Rack"

And not get slugged for it. :D

By the way, Nice Rack!

Yep, buy bags of what's called Lizard Litter or some such stuff. It's crushed walnut shells. You can also get the granulated corn cob media there too, as bedding for gerbils or something.

I have been involved in firearm related hobbies for most of my life. My grandfather gave me my first .22 when I was 5 years old, and I’ve never grown tired of them. I used to spend a week each summer at my grandparents farm, and he used to give me a bounty for each sparrow, starling, pigeon and cr...

It could be worse, you could live were I do. This year they passed the property tax reform. To balance out the "loss of income" the state is anticipating, they've raised the sales tax. Oh, but wait, they exempted some counties from the property tax reform, mine being one of them. So, not o...

My advise, based on a bunch of .44 reloading (.44 Russian, .44 Special, .44 Mag), and I'm talking tens of thousands of rounds, from heavy hunting ammo to lightweight cowboy action. Did I mention I'm a big fan of .44's? You've got several ways to go. First off I'd recommend skipping the .44 Ru...

OI, Barring other obligations, I'd be there. I'm located about 45 minutes to the east of Michigan City, so the travel is not over burdonsome. 1st or 3rd weekend works well, but the 2nd Saturday of the Month, April through October is my club's Cowboy Shoot (Bend of the River Conservation Club's River...

It's what I started reloading with, oh those so many years ago. I had bought a Savage 340 in .222 to hunt groundhogs with, and was distressed at the cost of factory ammo. One day, on a trip to the gunshop to pick up another box of ammo (I bought 'em 20 rounds at a time back then, being a poor colleg...

How secure/stable is the mount? I'm assuming it hooks into the rear sight dovetail? Might make a handy 'scout' set-up out of the 1892 platform, with a low powered pistol scope or the reddot like Nate was showing. Cost? Availability? I agree that it ain't traditional, but I'm starting to suffer the e...

Although I've had great luck with my .357, if I had to choose one, it'd be the .44 Mag. My .357 handloads are dandy, but if I had to pick up something in a store, chances of having what I need would be slim. With the .44 Mag, most of what I would be able to buy over the counter would be adequate for...

I haven't used the 180 grain bullets, but I did use the Speer 170 grain GDSP bullet over a good charge of Lil' Gun powder, and am entirely pleased with the performance. I shot a small doe (about 100 lbs) at between 50 and 60 yards with this load broadside and it dropped at the shot. I did fire an in...
