Re: 30-30 Ackley advice

I have a .30WCF AI on an ancient Model 99 action, a custom, it is superbly accurate! My best handloads use 150 grain slugs, usually a round nose because the rotor/mag were cut for .22HighPower and are short, over a charge of 3031. I've also had very good accuracy from the Speer 130gr slug, both the ...

Never been a 'Ford Man' but I had to see that show because I remember those days well. What surprised me was the number of ladies in the audience!

Re: Starting to Feel Old ? ? ?

Had a semi annual blood draw this morning, the phlebotomist and I were recounting how different trick or treating was during our childhood; few folks handed out store bought anything but some of those farm ladies could make your heart stop with their chocolate chip cookies or homemade fudge! Re: Product review ..... Harbor Freight 'Apache' weatherproof protective case Small for $10

I admit to being a H.F. 'fan boy'! I'm an emergency radio operator for the Sheriff and Fire Dept., I have large stores of batteries to power my ham radios and all I store now is the HF alkalines. Too many probs with the famous ones and store brands. Several of my radios are powered by HF rechargeabl...

Out here near the end of the known universe, I find my ham radio has better connectivity than anything else. Since I'm an aging widower I do carry a cell phone in case I fall down the stairs getting to the wine cellar or my shop.

Re: Electric truck

Happened onto a live broadcast from LeMans a week or so back, heard the commentators talking about the Toyota GT cars being so fast out of the pits, seems those are Toyota hybrids with, as I disremember, 500HP electric motors with instantaneous torque! That combined with a 500HP fuel engine made the...

My last feral hog was dropped with a 100gr. cup and core by Sierra in my new .250-30000, never saw the need of a more expensive slug. My deer bullet for my .30-30 AI is the Speer 150gr RN.

Took my first 'gam animal', a Chinese pheasant with a .410; over 60 years later I keep a .22/.410 OU M-6 behind the seat of my truck all the time. Sometimes I take the little Czech down and pack it into my suitcase when I travel.

Solutions:
A. If it's supposed to turn and it isn't, apply WD40
2. If it's NOT supposed to turn and it is, apply duct tape.

Re: My new .250-3000 was delivered today

.250 works as well in a light weight bolt gun as it did in my 99 Takedown. About lunch time last Saturday I got into position and popped a young pig with it. Range was +/- 75 yds so a head shot was no problem. You might note that 'Curly' as I named him has curly hair with lighter tips on the hairs, ...

My new .250-3000 was delivered today

Used to hunt with a Model 99 Takedown in .250-3000 with a Lyman Alaskan scope on it. Damaged rotator cuffs can't handle weighty guns so I decided I need a lightweight .250. Called Savage and discussed the possibility, then had my local dealer place the order. It's a Model 11 Light Weight Hunter and ...

Re: USAF is retiring the remaining revolvers.......

Once upon a time, long long ago and far away, I carried a model 10 with several M-15 parts transplanted. Mil Spec .38Spl ammo was an anemic 130gr FMJ of .355 diameter in a brass case that had hardly any powder in it, really, no improvement over the .38 Colt of the Philippine Insurrection. Several of...

Re: NRA Article "The Little Savage: .250-3000"

For years a 1930 something vintage 99 Takedown .250-3000 was my blacktail rifle and each time I pointed it at a deer I had meat, except for once. Because my rotator cuffs are as raggedy as the cuffs of my old Wrangler Riggs work pants, it had to go, just too heavy for my worn joints. Yesterday I had...

I do not care what caused it! I have shoveled my driveway clear of 30 inches that fell in 24 hours or less and removed another 26 inch deposit from my deck and then re-shoveled both to clear the nightly increase. Way back when those Hughes choppers were nicknamed 'Loach' after their designation as 'Light Observation Helicopter'.
