Need new holsters or larger pockets
Package arrived from Andy Horvath this morning.
These were abused and/or modified when I picked them up. Andy did a brushed blue finish due to the pitting and thinned the trigger guard in the trigger finger side right/left. Ivory micarta grips. 45colt.

Yeah, it was hard to go back to work today. On another note, I'm 6ft 200lbs, I'd hate to run into the guy that could pocket carry these. Fitzgerald must have been a monster.

I am sooo freaking jealous, what a cool pair. You should stand out in a crowd soon I suppose, when you start wearing a 1940's suit complete with fedora wherever you go.
Re: Need new holsters or larger pockets
Very nice!!! Going to be the guy that states the obvious, wearing both of those would make crossing creeks, even large puddles could be hazardous to your well being. I would be glad to offer a fair amount for one, say $100!GunnyMack wrote:Looks like a double shoulder rig is in order!

Very cool, I hope to run across an affordable Fitz...someday. In the meantime I've got a ratty Brazilian K-22 knockoff that I'm thinking about doing the Fitz treatment on one of these days.

Gorgeous pair sir. What were they before the transition?

Re: Need new holsters or larger pockets
I love me some Colt New Services, including the military ones: US 1917 and 1909, and Brit .455s. While many are in lousy cosmetic shape outside and with eroded, ringed, or otherwise neglected bores, I've never found one that wouldn't cycle, lock up, and touch off a round, as long as it had a firing pin (or intact hammer on the oldest ones). Even an 1898 or '99 made one that looked like it had sat in camel urine for years still worked and locked up tight.
Those beat ones are prime candidates for "Fitz jobs" like yours, and I love to see an old campaigner back on the firing line! Bravo! (But keep your gunbelt tight....).

Re: Need new holsters or larger pockets
One had been shortened to 4 inches with a wide hammer spur welded on and the other was a rough model 1909. Both are in 45 colt.
Re: Need new holsters or larger pockets
I love seeing beat up old guns made into something workable. Nice!

Thanks Fellas. I took a few years to decide on belt vs shoulder holsters. The Barranti-Meyers holster line and his Barton Special sealed the deal.
