Re: Air rifle back from Stoeger
I suppose the only thing left to do is find some of the pellets that they used and see if I can shoot it as well as they did. One thing you should have in mind is that springer airguns are very hold sencitive (specially the more powerful ones). Try to not shoot it off the bench or with other rest. ...

Re: 200grains cast bullets in .30WCF
Had some time to go to the range today, lousy weather but i got some loads tested. Träffbild.jpg 21,0grs of Accurate 5744 gave this Group at 25m. Think the 5744 is a more suitable powder for the 14" short barrel on my contender than 2520. With ten shots i got... MV = 1688fps, ES = 4,0% (or 67fp...

Re: 200grains cast bullets in .30WCF
Is the bore ride portion of bullet a snug fit in the muzzle? Yes, the bore riding part of the bullets is "a snug fit" in the barrel. What about doing a chamber casting to make sure someone hasn't reamed that out into something else? The picture looks okay, but are the bullets hitting poin...

Re: 200grains cast bullets in .30WCF
It didn't go much better today... Träffbild.jpg Ten-shot group at 25m was 81mm!!! (3,18" at 27,3yds) Sotiga hylsor.jpg Cases got quite sooty, low pressure or what do you think? The load was 30,0grs Accurate 2520, c.o.l. 2,65" under Lee's C309-200-R cast bullet (204grs) . Velocity was...

Re: 200grains cast bullets in .30WCF
probably not relevant but ... 300 whisper and 300 aac blackout shoot those 200+ gr bullets as subsonics. might be interesting to look at those loads. they are using fast powders and short fast twist barrels. The problem with this is that the .300 Whisper/Blackout have only about half the case capac...

Re: 200grains cast bullets in .30WCF
Pistol Mike, Sorry I didn't see this sooner. As Sixgun indicated, with 200+ gr. bullets, I have used a capacity load of 4350 and also 35 grs. of H414 which is a ball powder that has a similar burning rate to 4350. I use the recipies in lever guns and they shoot very well. Thanks and no worries! :) ...

Well... guess it's like any other job! some days are good, some are even better! :D But to be honest i think that a "Die Corrector" is the best job you can get if you want to work on "the floor". you have a lot of responsability and must "use your head" with both...

OT. Is there any Sapa, Alcoa or Indalex employees here?
Just curious since i'm a Sapa employee my self! I'm working as a die corrector at a 3250ton 9" aluminum extrusion press at the Brogard plant in Vetlanda (Sweden). So if there's any other die correctors here we might talk about work instead of guns and such stuff! :) Would be nice to here...

Re: Minimum battery?
My minimum battery would be a good rifle and good pisotol. I don't know if it was Karamojo Bell that said that he wouldn't be afraid of walking across Africa with a big bore revolver and a .22LR rifle. So i must agree with both Pathfinder and Karamojo one good rifle and one good pistol is all you n...

Re: 45 90 hunting loads
Well i've searched for "loads 45-90" and all i come up with is a bunch of results with "33 WCF", "44-40 WCF" and some "smalltalk" about the 45-90. And not much about actual loads for that caliber. There isn't a database with levergun loads that i don't know ab...

Re: 450 Alaskan and model 71 Browning or Winchester
Buck Elliot and 86er... What bullets are you using or could recommend at these higher speeds? Thought i get some Speer 400grs FNSP for testing, but i don't know if they are too soft for +2000fps speeds Think Swift A-Frame and Barnes TSX would be tough enough. But the nose is to long on these so they...

Re: 450 Alaskan and model 71 Browning or Winchester
In realistic terms how much more powerful is it than the 450M or hot 45-70? Is your shoulder the limiting factor? I believe a steady diet of any of the 3 would cause your shoulder to give out before the gun did. I must say that as was suprised with the "mild" recoil of my 7.3 pound Miroku...

Re: Who has & what is your experience loading .45-90 WCF?
Yes! Let's hear about your experience loading the .45-90 WCF. I've having trouble finding "full power" loading data for my Miroku/Winchester 1886 EL (almost wish it was a 45-70). Only have one good load in my '86 so far, it's Berry's 350grs RS under 40.0grs of A5744 (shoots under 1.5"...
