No problem on the load. These are badman 250 grain cast lead over 10.2gr of HS6 and 8.1 of unique. The HS6 uses magnum primers and the unique uses regular primers.

Finally
I had been messing around with loads for a Uberti 1873 45 colt 20" rifle. I hadn't been able to shoot it for about 18 months, but had a couple pet loads cooking. I had the chance to take the rifle out today. The load is HS-6 and I used a magnum primer. Three shot group was a clover leaf at 50 y...

Re: Knife talk: Condor Bushcraft Parang Machete
Condor is good. Another option is myparang which is basically a bidor blade rehandled in a nylon sheath. The 10" is pretty much all you need.

Re: Winchester 94's
Some don't like the Mirokus some like them. Thank God for the free market so we can buy what we want.
I do want a nice pre-64 for a collector piece.

I have 3 of the mirokus. 2 94's and a '73. My experience has been good. They are worth the price to me, extra features and all.

Varget in 30-30
I have been playing around with reloads in my Winchester 94. I worked up a nice load with Leverevolution and the Nosler Partition bullet. Clocks about 2350 out of the 24" barrel and has 3-shot groups at 1.5". I was curious what could be done with other powders and a less expensive bullet s...

Thanks
I recently bought a Winchester 94 in 30-30. I am new to reloading so I found the article on this site about varmint loads for the 30-30 very interesting. I cooked up a few of the 311440 w/ 10 grains of 2400 based on the article. That round is a blast! Lots of fun at the range. I haven't had a chance...

Re: Adventures in Leverevolution for the 30-30
I made it back home from the family vacation at Disney and Key West. The kids loved it. I tried the marker trick and while I didn't see a rub the extra lube let the cartridge chamber. I then tried chambering the unloaded but sized brass as was suggested. Sure enough 5 cartridges did not chamber. Ah ...

Re: Adventures in Leverevolution for the 30-30
It sorta sounds like you're not trimming your cases. A Lee FCD is kinda forgiving of omitting that step, but your chamber may not be. I load for a number of .30-30s, so while accuracy may not be the best each rfle is capable of, all have proven to be "minute of deer" capable... with lots ...

Re: Adventures in Leverevolution for the 30-30
By chance were the cases previously shot in another 30-30. If so and it's chamber was larger in diameter, there is a possibility your sizing die did not resize the base small enough. I had a tight chambered 7mm Mauser. I got fifty once fired cases that looked great. Problem was the other chamber wa...

Re: Adventures in Leverevolution for the 30-30
I got his from the hodgdon site. I started at 33 which is the min listed.Steelbanger wrote:Where did you find that 36.3 gr. load?
I'm going from memory here but it seems that 35.5 is the recommended max with the Hornady LeverEvolution bullet, which is a bit lighter than your Speer bullets.

Re: Can't make this stuff up.
Of course the criminals don't want the rest of us to have guns. Arming criminals has always been the point of gun control and this story just backs that up.

Re: Adventures in Leverevolution for the 30-30
Sounds like you have one mighty fine rifle there! And as to your chambering problems -- as Nath says, probably not quite enough sizing. However since you can't even force them in the chamber I'm thinking it is very possible that you are occasionally getting a little bulge at neck when you crimp, if...

Adventures in Leverevolution for the 30-30
I am fairly new to reloading. 30-30 is my first rifle cartridge. I did some research on the net and bought a few powders to try with the speer 170 grain. I purchased Leverevolution, 3031, H4895, 4064, BL-C2, and 748. I decided to start with leverevolution. The gun is a Winchester 94 24" rifle m...

Re: 94 going back to Winchester
All is well that ends well. Winchester shot my rifle for accuracy and saw the problem. My rifle although purchased in 2013 was built in 2010 based on the serial number. I am now the proud owner of a 2014. The rifle shoots quite well.

Re: Best Bullet for the Uberti 73 in .357?
I don't hunt with my 73 but, here is what I have worked up so maybe this will help. I load to 1.600 oal. 158gr Dardas round flat points. 7.1 gr of hs-6 with winchester spm primers. This is roughly 1300 fps out of a 20" bbl. 12.0 gr of 2400 for 1600 fps. Neither are likely hot rod rounds. Pressu...

Re: 94 going back to Winchester
I took a look at the hanger and also spoke to a gunsmith. He was pretty sure that the hanger was not the only cause of the problem. He recommended sending it to Winchester. So after some drama with ups we got it out to them. Collector's was a huge help.
Now the wait.

Re: 94 going back to Winchester
Hi, My name is Darin, btw and I live in Houston Texas. Yep, my wife got me a 2013 Model 94 with the tang safety. It is Miroku made. The gun really is a pleasure to shoot. The first rifle I bought myself was a Marlin 336 carbine from the early 80's. I bought it used up at McBride's in Austin about 20...

94 going back to Winchester
Howdy, My wife bought me a new 94 sporter 24" half octagon in 30-30. After a couple trips to the range there was some good and some bad. The fit and finish is very good. The action is smooth and the gun loves 170 gr bullets. After the gun gets warmed up it will but 3 shots into an inch at 100 y...
