Distance may not be conducive to good experience with the 30/30. There are reduced recoil loads for it I think, if recoil is issue, which I really can't imagine with a 30/30, but she won't know what she is shooting when pulls trigger on a deer. I use primarily Federals especially hunting. Winchesters a close second. But not quite as good as the feds through my marlin. I can shoot those feds in quarter size groups at 100yds, winchesters stretch that a bit, but would be comfortable shooting them if I had to. Never tried Remingtons through it...

Have a mag cylinder for my colt SA, I use it almost exclusively for hunting, rabbits, squirrels etc. It is more accurate than the LR, not sure why, maybe longer bullet lines up better to barrel, or maybe it is simply the ammunition. 200 fps with the 180gr bullet is serious improvement. As soon as I get this dang sunroom built for the MRS, I have to get serious on one of the several conversions, custom built, or whatever I have in my head, and get on with it!!
