Re: Truly inconsequential TV western question
As a symbol of respect/recognition I can see the guy's old gunbelt and hat, devoid of cartridges or gun, at a maximum...if the guy was a friend or other (presumbly!) good guy. Never any hardware.

Truly inconsequential TV western question
...but still puzzling. I am wondering, in the "old west," did they really leave a deceased gunman's rig and gun on their grave cross--supposedly out of respect or recognition--if out in the boonies--as shown in old TV yarns? - or was it just liberties taken for TV dramatic effect? (They wo...

I've got mixed feelings here, a three pronger - between not entirely disagreeing with those that've said "forged it" and move on to something more worthy of restoration, OR just making it into a reliable .30-30 truck gun with minimal investment--either as 16" trapper or a new 20"...

Can you say "steal"?! Outstanding. I've certainly enjoyed mine, but it's been awhile since I've seen a side-by-side comparison - and didn't recall the carbine wood actually being longer than the rifle's. As you say, the carbine's no lightweight itself.!

Coolest bird around. We have a fair number of them in Arizona. (I think NM beat us to the "state bird" honors, so ours is the cactus wren!) They are fun to watch and do seem to race along the highway with the cars. Years ago I saw a roadrunner take on a good sized rattler. No problem. Like...

Amongst the rifle types, another +1 for the M1 Carbine. I hve not trued the AO's as Steve has, but my GI has run pretty flawlessly for the 60+ years we've had them. Another thing - I just read the "one piece" part regarding your current grips. Mine were too - we had to fashion (weld) a locating pin for the Colt grips, as the Uberti--at least my example--didnt have one, being set up for a one-piece only from the factory.

Mattie and LeBeouf are improved in the new movie.
