Re: A question about the Rossi 454 Casull
While you have the wood off you should consider glass bedding. It helps disperse the recoil to prevent cracking off the stocks. I'm guess you a layer of fiber glass where the front stock comes in contact with the gun? I've not had a problem with stocks cracking yet but would consider it on the 454 ...

Re: A question about the Rossi 454 Casull
Thanks guys and especially Nate. I got the pin out and metal mag follower and stainless spring in. I've also replaced the safety with Nate's plug and now have the wood off refinishing it. After I put another 50 or so rounds through it I will mount the Weaver scout scope on it as this rifle is for hu...

Re: A question about the Rossi 454 Casull
Funny, but my Rossi came factory with a steel magazine follower. Mine came with the typical yellow plastic one and never seen a new in the box with a steel one. Not all but there were a few about 2004-2005 that came with steel followers. Since then all I've seen have been the plastic ones. As for t...

Re: A question about the Rossi 454 Casull
I called about that as the gun went to Rossi when I took it out of the box as it wouldn't feed. It was returned in 7 days repaired at which point I shot 50 rounds through it and went to clean it. That is when I removed the tube with plans of a installing a stainless spring and metal magazine follow...

Re: Opinions on Rossi R92 levergun?
I have 3 Rossi rifles a pair of 92 and a Rio Grande. Now both 92, a 45 Colt and 454 Casull have made a trip to Miami new out of the box. Both suffered from feeding problems however both had well fitted wood. The 45 Colt is 4 years old has shot well over 2000 rounds from black powder to my own 280 gr...

Re: A question about the Rossi 454 Casull
I'd send it back and make them put the correctly made item on there, at their expense.... I called about that as the gun went to Rossi when I took it out of the box as it wouldn't feed. A question about the Rossi 454 Casull
I have a new 454 Casull M92 that I took down and cleaned. While doing this I planned to add a steel magazine follower but found a problem. Most of the 454 have a single pin that holds the end on to the inner tube (tube inside tube arrangement). Now the first picture is of the tube, second of the pin...

Re: New Rossi Rio Grande
It shoots great. The loading gate is super duper stiff I took mine apart, remove the gate and did a little grinding on it careful to not over heat it, as per Nate's video. I got it close then put a dummy round in it about half way and let it sit for a few days. Now it is like my M92 45 Colt easy as...

Re: New Rossi Rio Grande
I love mine also in 45-70 though I've added a Bushnell Banner 1.5-4.5x32mm scope to mine. The Smithshop makes a stainless magazine follower for it and Uncle Mikes hammer extension for the Winchester, Henry rifle works on it also. I might add it shoots great also.

Re: My Rio Grande 45-70 just came in :-)
The Smith Shop have metal magazine followers to replace the plastic ones at http://www.thesmithshop.com/magfollow.html. Wild West Guns has the ejector springs (1 piece) for Marlin 336 and they do work in the Rio Grand perfectly at http://www.wildwestguns.com/. The main problem with Rossi Rifles is t...

Re: .45-70 Taurus/BrazTech/Rossi Rio Grande Warranty Issues
I've had a Rossi 92 in 45 Colt for 3 years now. I got it and seemed to work fine. Got it home, cleaned it and ran some snap caps through it with it not feeding. Called Rossi, fed ex picked it up an hour and half later. The 6th business day gun was returned and working perfectly. Put 1000 rounds thro...

Re: Backsight for Rossi M92
I recently changed both the front and rear sights with some I got from the Steve Gunz site. I used the front ivory bead sight and the rear sight that looks like the original Winchester buck horn sight. They fit well but haven't had a chance yet to zero it in other than with a laser bore sighter.

Re: Rossi Rio Grande in 4570 anyone shooting one yet??
Thank you for the interesting post everyone. Never thought I would have an interest in any Rossi. I will give them a look now. I bought one a few months back and I must say it was one of the best finished guns both inside and out I've owned in over 40 years. Now the loading gate would bite as hard ...

Re: Cast bullet loading book
I have 4 books that have cast bullet data Lyman's Cast Bullet Handbook, Lee's Modern Reloading 2nd Ed., Laser Cast Reloading (Oregon Trail) and The Complete Reloading For (your caliber as they are for a single caliber). Now the complete are somewhat older but plenty of places to allow for updates al...

Re: Rossi Rio Grande in 4570 anyone shooting one yet??
For anyone interested. The Winchester model 94 hammer spur works perfectly on the Rio Grande. Snugs up and has clearance for the bolt. Do you have a site of where to find these, a search quote to find them? I've been looking for some time for one. Now I've seen the Uncle Mike ones for the Wincheste...

Re: 45-70 and Annealing?
I anneal my new brass in 45-70 before I load it the first time. I also size it as well after that. I anneal again after 5 to 6 reloads and I'm getting about 20 to 30 times before replacing the brass.

Re: OK Sixgun, Griff - Colts
It would depend on what the planned use is. Now I shoot Cowboy Action though not SASS but NCOWS and though I don't own a Colt I do own 3 Uberti/Cimarron in 45 Colt SAA. My favorite by far is the 7.5" barrel but again speed isn't as big a factor for me as if I was shooting SASS. My other two are...

Re: Am I doing it wrong? Rossi 1892 44 Mag
I have a Rossi 92 in 45 Colt and have recently gotten some Ranch Dog designed bullets in 290 gr gas checked that I load with 25 gr of Lil'Gun. Very accurate but are a bit hard on my old shoulders. I would bet they would take a black bear down with little trouble within 100 yards if one hits it right.
