As fat a 250-260 grain bullet as you can get to cycle and 10 grains of Unique is a good start. It will PROBABLY not be the last load you try but it will get it up and running with a smile on your face. Congratulations.

I was at the Oaks Pa gun show last weekend and there were 8-10 model 71’s. The beaters in that bunch were just shy of two grand and a very nice deluxe was $3500.

I have a problem when a levergun in a caliber I have either NEVER heard of, or have only slight knowledge of comes up for sale at what seems like a steal price. I usually buy it and by the time I buy brass, bullets(or a mold) and dies well it may not have been such a bargain. But I have learned a lot.
