I didn’t get it yet just got offered a 38/40. I have a 197? Marlin 1894 in 38-40. It started life as a 44 mag and somebody started it by putting an OLD marlin barrel on it in 38-40. I got it as a project and was able to finish it up and get it to shoot well.

I agree whole heartedly that a spotless clean bore is priority one. I scrubbed and scrubbed then used a FoulOut to get all the rest.

Val, all good points. This gun had a major constriction where the roll stamp was applied and played hob with accuracy with a cast bullet,in addition to severe leading. My bud that works At Cabelas in Hamburg says they won’t even take a 40 on trade right now! That said my EDC is a Glock 23 in40 and I like it for what it is. My other 40....is a Marlin 1894 that uses the same 40 cal 200 grain bullets38-40.

I have three of the sourdough holsters from simply rugged. When camping around here I usually carry a S&W model 19 in one. When hunting in Colorado I have carried 29 in one and Inhave one that seems to fit just about all my 4 3/4(ish) Ruger single actions.

That 86 is too much fun to shoot to fully retire but Inhave a couple other oldies that need blooded....like the 1886 takedown in 33wcf, the 1895 in 30-40, a 1894 in 38-55 ect. I have killed 8 doe with different 100 year old or older leverguns in the last 10 years.

Thanks Guys. I had two goals this year kill a buck with the 35/30-30 and a die with the 1886 soooo check check.
I b piece this to be a fake SRC. I need to do the Cody letter but tint has the correct saddle ring and barrel bands. Crescent butt, Jack.
