It's my understanding that the laws that govern black powder are a bit different that those that govern smokeless because black powder is classified as an explosive. Don't know if that's true or not.

I've cleaned the bores of handguns and wow, it works - right now. Whenever I clean the receiver with brake cleaner, I just shoot it down the bore as well. However, I never use it indoors, always outdoors - even when bitter cold out.

I found copper "chore boys" and just wrap a little around a decent fitting brush, and then follow up with patches soaked with FP10 followed by a few dry ones. Couldn't have said it better....except I use CLP instead of FP10. And I don't clean every time I shoot one. I just clean maybe a c...

Dis-assemblying Marlins is very easy. To aid in loading, dis-assemble to the point that you can remove the loading gate. It's only 1 screw. Then, by grinding, decrease the width of the flat spring. My Grandfather raised 4 boys (one of which was my father) and tended his farm with only a Winchester model 97. Later he bought a .22 single-shot. I guess anything more than that is just luxury.

BTW, I have that old '97 and it works as well as it did when he bought it.

I'd like to know what everyone uses for hearing protection. I have been using cheap set of earmuffs that I got at Walmart. I'd like to buy a new pair that has the electronics to allow converstion while blocking gunshot sound. I'm looking at the Radian Pro-Amp for a possibility. Any suggestions?

Short answer is yes, you can ship to an FFL dealer, as far as BATFE is concerned. To better answer your question - is it a long gun or a handgun? Some of your shipping options are different. Also, there may be state laws that come into play where you live that are more restrictive than federal law.

Last week at the range, the range officer asked me if I was shooting BP because of the smoke. It was 24gr. A2400 and a 300gr RNFP in a .45-70. It did make a lot of smoke.

I began having squib loads w/31gr. of H4198 in 45-70 cases. That was a couple of years ago. I've also read of other folks having that same problem with that same powder. Either it was a bad lot that I and others got or it takes a real hot primer to light off H4198.

I waited 46 days to make my first 2011 purchase. I think I did pretty good. Although I haven't seen it yet, it's a Ruger Blackhawk .357. Gunshop, Jaqua's, said it was in excellent shape. I've never done business with them, but some of the folks over on rugerforum.com think highly of them - we'll see...
