Just tested the 13.5gr 2400 load in both pistol and carbine length gas in 16" barrels and it locked back both BCGs!
I wouldn't mind trying this load on a coyote! Doubt it would do the same with 6gr Trail Boss!

Re: 86gr in 300BLK?
Thanks, Ray. Hodgdon's site gives a load of 6gr Trail Boss with 150gr FMJs, so might give that load a start with the 86 grainers and see what happens. BTW, the way the TB meters out of my powder measure, I've gone to hand weighing each charge. As for the 2400, might as well try my favorite .357 158g...

86gr in 300BLK?
Have several boxes of Hornady's 30 Mauser 86grRNs and would like to try loading in 300BLK. Anybody got any suggestions on loadings? Don't care if they cycle the action or not. Got unique, trail boss, 2400, h110/296. BTW, they do feed from the magazine of an AR when seated to the cannelure and crimpe...

OOPS! Looks like I was wrong, not for the first time, nor the last. Just watched Ian's Forgotten Weapons video on the 1866, it was chambered just in the Henry 44 rimfire, not the 44/40.

From what I've learned over the years, the first chamberings were 38/40, 44/40 and 45 Colt with 32/20 following soon afterwards. Let me know if I'm wrong. I think the Win 66 Yellowboy was the first chambered with 44/40 as the first centerfire.

Kinda hard to fit that in a saddle scabbard unless it had a 10rd mag. Then again, maybe even that is kinda pushing it, better make it a FIVE round mag.

Yes but thats a pain to have to monkey with in the heat of battle. :D [/quot} The upper I'm using for lead bullets I've got setup with a LoPro KaliKey, ie. a straight-pull bolt action. It replaces the gas key with a key that diverts the gas out the side, so it's not gas operated. Besides,...

Had this mold for years and never really got around to using it in anything. So thought I'd see if I could find a load that would work in the 300 BLK cartridge.
