My good friend Adam works for a German company with a branch operation in Kansas City. He has asked to bring some of his co-workers out to shoot on a couple occasions. I will tell you, "da Vinchesters" are always a big hit. Last time I brought out my 9422 (almost as an afterthought)... Whe...

I finally broke down and shot it....NIB Winchester Trapper
I bought this rifle a few months ago. It "spoke" to me as I walked a local gun show. It was NIB, a .45 Colt, 16" Trapper. Circa 1988. It came with its original box and was perfect. I'd wanted a .45 Colt shooter to shoot along side my Browning 92s. Well, after a few days I was having a...

Another vote for a small revolver, hammer less. If it were me, if get a Ruger L-something....the polymer, hammer less, .38 or 357) Don't ever let them shoot it with the mags....just instruct with powderpuff loads and throw in .357s for the bad guys. They will never know or feel it if its ever needed...

I guess I'll learn what it takes to switch the hammer, then decide if I'll switch ... I just like the feel of the old half-cock hammer...it's what I'm used to so I seem to gravitate towards that type.

I stopped at a gun show Sunday before heading out to turkey hunt... First pass through I spied a Winchester lever-gun. A couple of Browning Lever Guns
I've been a fan of pistol caliber lever guns for a long time. This winter I bought a M-92 in .357 Magnum. I was astounded at how much better this rifle cycled than my Marlin 1894. This Browning would eat any bullet style or OAL. My Marlin (it's factory stock w/no mods) is not so easy to shoot and I ...

I too like the M-1 Carbine. However, if I was going to use that as my home defense gun, I'd buy a beater (in appearance only) and keep my nice one in the safe. I'd not like handing my nice carbine over to the police to be banged around the evidence room. 20-30 rounds is a nice option if multiples ap...

I finally found and purchased an 1894 chambered in .44 Magnum. It's a sweetie too. The gun is pre-safety and looks to have been manufactured in 1977 (the year after I graduated from High School)! It's so "fresh" the action needs to be used to loosen it up a bit! Now I have a .44 to go with...
