Re: Older Puma 92 44 Mag Bore Size.

Well, since I don't cast, looks like I need to buy two different bullets. It'll be hard to find cast bullets with a .432 diameter. I love the gun. I use Trail Boss in it also.

Older Puma 92 44 Mag Bore Size.

Slugged the bore on an older '92 Puma (Imported by LSI) and the best I can tell, it slugs .427/.431. Are those about normal for the older guns? The slug (.458 lead ball) goes in pretty easy until it gets about 4 inches from the chamber. Then it tightens up. The reason I ask is it just hates my .429 ...

Re: Info on the 1873 Uberti/Cimarron

Their web site doesn't show a 44 special for the '73 models. Just 357, 44-40, 45 Colt and a couple of models in 44 mag. Seems like a 44 mag would be hard on this gun. But that's what I really want. I load really light loads for my Rossi. Wife even likes 'em.

Re: Info on the 1873 Uberti/Cimarron

Looks like everyone is running the"big bores". At what speed are you pushing those bullets?

Re: Info on the 1873 Uberti/Cimarron

Thanks for all the info. The more I stare at the pics of these guns, the more I'm inclined to go with the 20" barrel. A little longer site radius probably won't hurt either.

Re: Info on the 1873 Uberti/Cimarron

Are the barrels on these guns pretty much in spec? I shoot a lot of store bought cast bullets through my Rossis and Winchesters. The 44 mag Rossi needs .431 bullets but the .357 Rossi is spot on. The 30-30 bullets I get for the Winchesters are too hard, but they shoot fine. Just a little more cleani...

Re: Info on the 1873 Uberti/Cimarron

I've always wanted a classy gun. I'm looking at either the Uberti Special Sporting Short or the Cimarron Texas Brush Popper. Can't make up my mind if I want the 18 or 20 inch barrel. That and the caliber. I load for 357, but the 45 Colt would be fun. I just hate to start all over in a new caliber. I...

Info on the 1873 Uberti/Cimarron

How are these guns? Looking to get one with the pistol grip stock and want to hear and pros and cons on this gun. How are the triggers? Are they very accurate? Any info would be appreciated.

Re: Need Help getting started re-loading somewhat OT

Gotta get those books to load all that. But for starters, the Lee Classic Cast press will load all of those calibers. It will make short work of the pistol calibers and you can use it as a single stage for the rifle calibers. Its cheap for what it is, but it works. That's my take on the press. You n...

Oh, I forgot to mention Mr Young's DVD and the the plug I bought to replace that stupid safety on the Rossi. The DVD is a wealth of info. If I get up enough nerve, I may make some of the mods he recommends.

Thanks for the Help

I want to thank the gang for helping me on these guns. The Puma I bought was spot on. The light loads for the 30-30 (8.8grs of Unique behind a 170gr bullet) worked out great. Powder puff of a load that the wife enjoys shooting. And last but not least, the new Williams sights that was recommended. St...

Hey OJ. It was your post on another board I spotted that on. I just didn't want to horn in on that guy's post. Plus, I figure I'd get a "better" response on this board. Great! Bullets are supposed to be in tomorrow and if the light 30-30 loads work out without me blowing myself up, I'll or...

Williams FP-94/36 Peep Sights for Win 94

I saw on another post about the Williams FP-94/36 peep sights do not need drilling and tapping for the Winchester 94. Is this true? Mine was made in '75 and it does have two small screws on the left side of the receiver. I've never really looked at peep sights because I thought they all required dri...

My Rossi is the 20" stainless version in 357. You can see it here: http://www.pixagogo.com/7789414121 I did replace the safety with the plug that Mr. Young sells. Very simple to do and you don't have to take the gun apart to do it. Recoil is negligible. I do reload cast bullets for it, but full...

When I first shot the gun, it shot so far to the right I thought the rear sight would never adjust that far. That's why I drifted the front. I was going to drift it back over a little and adjust on the rear, but I'm out of lead. The bullets I've ordered are on backorder. So... I got to poking around...

Oops. You posted before I did. I've made no adjustments to the rear sight. Just drifted the front over. It's pretty much dead on height wise. So you think all I need is the front sight? I've never thought about a tang sight. I'll be honest, I'm horrible shooting off hand. I've leaned on something fo...

My problem is with the rear site. That's getting fuzzy. Even with these glasses I got a couple of years ago. It's hard to tell where that front site is in the "V". I spotted these sights and thought they may be a good thing. I only plink with my guns. But I still like to shoot a good group...

Tru Glow Sites on a Win 94

Has anybody used the Tru Glow sites on a 1975 model Win 94? I've drifted the front sight over to the right to where it is rubbing the the hood to get it on target at 30 yards. I spotted these sites at Midway and wonder if they would be a good replacement for the factory sites. Basically, I'm looking...

I bought one a few weeks ago and here it is: http://www.pixagogo.com/7789414121 Click on a pick to make it bigger and then click on Original at the top to really blow it up. You can see the plug I bought off Mr. Young to replace the safety. Really nice shooter. I bought Mr. Young's DVD but I haven't...
