I'd pass on this one. It has design flaws which Marlin corrected it by dropping this chambering. I'm no fan of the Marlin 1894 for shooting heavyweights or 44 Special loads. This is a top view of the Williams sight. Most guys prefer them to open V sights for better clarity and ease of sight adjustment. Typically, once zero'd, the sights remain true indefinately.

Marlin XLR reminds me of my older Savage model 99.

Both are lever action rifles without barrel bands that are capable of .308 performance. The Savage actually is a .308 :)
