I have been reloading for 50+ years, never seen this before ? I opened a new can of IMR 4064 to reload some 35 Remington rounds. This is an older can that had the metal seal in the pour spout. This can had never been opened before and had always been stored in a cool dry powder cabinet. On pouring t...

44-40,
Good questions
Item one. No strike on the primer
Item two. The rifle sat in the closet of the old fellow he purchased it from for several years. The fellow only hunted with it,so I doubt if it had been altered.Don't really know.

Marlin won't fire..............Idea's???????
My son has a 1981 vintage Marlin 1894 Carbine in 357 Mag. that won't fire.I think the rifle has a 2 piece firing pin. The firing pin appears to move to the rear when the bolt is levered and returned to battery.Could the firing pin in it's channel be gummed up enough to prevent the rifle from firing?...

Cubrock,
Based on my reading of this post and your ad in the classified, the Marlin appears to be a very shootable rifle, correct ??? Does the musket frame have suffecient strength to handle jacketd bullet reloads as listed in most of the current reloading guides ?
