Re: OT: Just Invented a New Recipe for Backstraps
I like to cook sliced back strap in a black iron frying pan using bacon grease and a little Soy Sauce. Wrapped in bacon and cooked on the grill aint bad either.

Re: Fancy Wood on a Winchester Lever Gun...
As I compare the pics of your gun to the memories of my brother's 190, I'd say you might have the nicest model 250 ever built. I think you might be right, and that's exactly why I have not yet done what I originally intended when I bought it... that is/was to Sell It hopefully for a little profit. :?

Re: Fancy Wood on a Winchester Lever Gun...
Yes it is a weird combo of wood and "checkering". Winchester made the model 250 from 1960-1971 (I think). In 1965-71 they also made the 250 DeLuxe which this one is. The Deluxe had the Monte Carlo stock with cheek piece whereas the regular version had the standard configuration stock. I th...

Happiness is a lifetime supply of 303 Savage. :D Yes, I agree! I have some of it is from the early days and some from the 1950's. My favorite is 200 NIB brass from the limited run Winchester made in 1996. I also have several boxes of Winchester factory loaded ammo from the 1996 run. I'm Blessed htt...

Wow...great photos! Actually, that Savage looks like one of the predecessors to the 99's. It's probably a model 1896 or a model 1899. Not to hijack your thread, but hopefully to add...here's a pic of my model 1899 .303 Savage (serial numbered to 1912). Might even be your Great Grandpa's...who knows?...

Marlin .45-70 Guide Gun...nice wood pics
Here is a couple of pics of my Guide Gun. I bought it used (without the scope) not long ago. It is one of the older ones with the ported barrel. In this pic, I have Warne Quick Release rings on it. Nice, but difficult to carry comfortably with those sharp detach levers sticking out. I've now replace...

YES...great scope! I had one on a Remington Model 7 stainless/synthetic lightweight rifle chambered in .308. It was a great scope/rifle combo. Ex-wife took the rifle and scope as she had claimed it as her deer hunting rig. I miss that scope and rifle, but I don't miss her. uhh...you don't happen to ...

Store Brand Guns...good wood Revelation (pics)
I recently bought this from my brother...figured I should keep it in the family. It is a Western Auto "Revelation" .30-30 made by Marlin in 1968. It has some pretty nice wood for a store-brand gun. http://pic14.picturetrail.com/VOL523/3082611/17383006/299363179.jpg http://pic14.picturetrai...

Mine is an EMF Hartford Model. But, if you look the fine print under the lever it reads Rossi.

Thanks for the welcome guys! Cubrock...I think I saw you at a distance at the Greensboro GS Saturday. It was so crowded that I didn't try to fight my way over. Edward said that he saw you. I'll seize the moment to post a pic of the 39A I bought from you sometime in the past! http://pic14.picturetrai...

"Snub Nose" 94 Winchester .44 Magnum (pics)
What can you guys tell me about this one? It is a large loop 94AE .44 magnum with a saddle ring and 16" barrel. It does have the cross-bolt safety. I was checking out a S&W model 60 and saw this used carbine daring me to buy it...so, I did. Is it a Wrangler? Most newer versions of Wranglers...

Looks good to me. I really envy you blokes that can take quality, artistic pics of your guns. Thanks Bob! Actually, I have to take about 20+- pics before I have one turn out decent. :? This one turned out fairly good...it's a 1949 vintage .30WCF model '94 http://pic14.picturetrail.com/VOL523/308261...
