I caught the end of it when they had the shoot off. Looked like Rick took the ammo out of a factory box so he may have loaded some 45-70 ammo. One thing that the shop has stated several times is that they only buy pre 1898 guns (antiques)

IIRC the US Govt did purchase some and issued them along the Alaskan highway when it was under contruction then. Never a front line rifle.

I bought a new Chicom SKS back around 87' and still have it, couple years ago finally ordered a set of Lee dies for it in 08' and have a about 100 rds of Laupa brass saved. Haven't reloaded for it yet as I only have about 6-7 months home since then I retired.

For those that don't know the French Army is here in Afghanistan. I support two of their bases with equipment. They are still using the FAMAS in 5.56mm for their service rifle.

Don't forget the Winchester/Browning 1895 in 30-06. Browning also chambered a few in .270 Win. I used to own a Browning 95 in 30-06 during the 90s and mounted a Williams reciever sight to it. No problems hitting 300m if you do your part.

Lived breify in Ocala Fl after I retired. Only saw couple of water mocassians when canoeing. Would have shot any pythons or boas if seen. Now I watch out for cobras and karats every night here in Afghanistan.

86er, I would also recommend the H&R in .357. You could also add a bipod to the forearm. Ruger also makes the compact Hawkeye in 6.8 SPC. Since the .223/5.56 is legal in Texas have you considered a lightweight AR15 carbine? A standard M4 is 5.9 lbs empty. Find one with the lightweight 16" b...

Agreed on the never ending ammo supply on six shooters. Some of the best are with Sam Elliot, Tom Selleck and Robert Devaul. Westerns have gotten better in my opion on firearms and dress.

I had to leave these two firearms in Baghdad in 04. Mint 1944 dated MP44 and a FN engraved BHP that belong to Saddam Hussian.
