jeeeeeeeeeee...i went into the army when there was still the M1 Garand, BAR and M1 carbine, there was still water cooled .30 cal MG and body armor consisted of WWII flak jackets when and if it could be had...the M14 and M60 were coming in issue to the STRAC units..i was sent to the Thailand/Vietnam ...

i used cedars for many, many years until they doubled in price...i used to get 100 shafts for less than $100.00 now they're nearly $300.00...

yes jeepnik...it was Douglas MacArthur...he ordered his cavalry to burn them out that was in Washington DC in 1921 as i recall my history.

VA benefits are not easy to get...I've been put on low priority because i did not try to get them earlier AND, i make too much...even on social security!

in 1968, the u.s. had been involved in 'Nam for 11 years already...i came home from that part of the world in 1962...YIKES... :shock:

the cap was probably one that was a metal, 'crimped' on...cork tops and internal screw tops were, for the biggest part, gone by the 1920's.

you'll find these rifles are wonderful...powerful enough to take many 'big game' animals yet mild enough to be pleasant shooting and are quite accurate.

geeeeeeee griff and kirkD...aren't you guys aware that some grenades are NO fuse (for "booby" traps)...when the spoon flies, it goes BOOOOOM instantly... :shock:

fortunately they're usually marked as such...
