Re: what cast bullet for 38/55?

I just had a model 94 Win in 32 special rebored to 38-55 with a .379 bore. I was hoping to use a 377, 265 grain long flat nose from LBT that I had made for my Ruger #3 in 375 Win. It would not run thru the action and would not chamber. I had to go back to the old stand-by Lyman 375248, and it works ...

Thanks for the reply; I don't have a screw pitch gauge, but it looks like I'm going to have to buy one, or two. I just didn't want to bugger up the threads with the wrong pitch; it just didn't feel right when I tried installing them.

Armi M92

I have an Armi Sports reproduction of a Winchester model 92 in 44 WCF. Nice looking firearm, functions and shoots well. I decided that I wanted to put on a tang sight. I got the one that I ordered, but failed to consider that the the threads are metric ( or at least I think they are as they appear t...

I have one of the Armi sports model 92 Win in 44-40; Good looker, nice fit of wood to metal and shoots well. I just read some where, can't remember where, that Armi was bought out by another manufacturer.

Try looking up the web site of Delta Gun Shop, they do that kind of work. I just sent them a model 94. The bore is in real bad shape, no blue left, and the previous owner had driven nails into the stock to repair a split. I asked them to bore it out to 38-55 and they are going to do what they call a...

There is a lot of good to be said for shooting those little old guns Couldn't help but notice I use almost exactly the same load as you, except that I use 9.5 grains of 4198 in my 94 Marlin made in 1899. I'm thinking abut trying Lil'gun; that ought to work well, you think?

Nath, Never did put it on the bench to measure the group.figured it wouldn't be too impressive; but it does shoot better than I expected. At thirty yards, I can hit a 8'' steel plate with every shot, off hand. It took me quite a bit of time to get everything just right with the wads. For the .375 ba...

This is a great little "fun" gun. I got one on impluse when they first came out. Both my grandsons enjoyed shooting it when they were little as the isn't much recoil. I'm not much of a shot gunner myself, but I needed an excuse to shoot it, so I started loading it with round balls to shoot...

If you have any doubts about how much you should heat the brass for annealing, you can purchase a kit put out by Hornady that has a temperture sensituve paste called "tempilaq". this paste changes color when the correct temperture is reached. After you gain a little experince using the pas...
