Armi M92

Post by wbwizzard »

I have an Armi Sports reproduction of a Winchester model 92 in 44 WCF. Nice looking firearm, functions and shoots well. I decided that I wanted to put on a tang sight. I got the one that I ordered, but failed to consider that the the threads are metric ( or at least I think they are as they appear to be the right size but will only enter one turn before jamming up). I've looked on several sites but couldn't find any help. Buffalo Arms sells several screw sets that look close, but I am not sure. The people at Buffalo Arms could not offer any help as they said that they were not familiar with the Armi. Perhaps the Rossi reproduction would have the same threads, if so, where could they be purchased?

Howdy,
Your ArmiSport 92 is a reincarnation of the Armi San Marco 92 (ASM) from the 90's. Armi Sport bought the parts and tooling from them. The ASM used standard win screw pitch and dia. so the Armi Sport is most likely the same. Do you have a screw pitch gage? If you do check the one you have I'll see if I have one. I have several ASM long tang screws.

Thanks for the reply; I don't have a screw pitch gauge, but it looks like I'm going to have to buy one, or two. I just didn't want to bugger up the threads with the wrong pitch; it just didn't feel right when I tried installing them.

If you will send me a a stamped, self addressed, padded envelope along with a note so I will know what it's for i'll send you one these. The other thing to consider is the other end of this screw. The hole in the tang is designed for a counter sunk head but most of the tang sights use a flat screw and some have smaller diameter heads than the stock screw. Have you worked that out?
