The SR22, the M&P22, and the Walther are all good ideas because there is a 9mm just like them in their respective lines that she could move up to seamlessly when the time comes.

Sad to say I'm down to one levergun these days. Had to sell off my BB94 when I realized I couldn't cook it any way that the kids would eat it. Still have my Marlin 56, though. Ironically, these days I think .375 Win. ammo is probably easier to get than .22 stuff, though.

Reputations are just that... I have some S&B brass for my .270 that started out as some of their 150-gr RN loads. Those rounds were stout . The brass seems pretty good, but as factory loads some were tough to close a bolt on, almost as if they were too long. They definitely benefited from being ...

Sounds like the headspace may be a tad too large or a long cut chamber. Are the primers also backing out (or, is that what you meant by "bulging")?

I see Cabela's is on top of their game, as usual: That's a Light Sporter, not a Tropical.
The Tropical models are for heavy-lifting, and the smallest Tropical is in .375 H&H.
Still, a very tempting little rifle. I'm a lefty, so the No.1s have great appeal for me.
