My cast station is at one end of my main reloading bench, and near the sliding door to my workshop for ventilation. I don't cast too often in hot weather, much over 70ºF and it becomes a bit much. What those guys above said. I've got nickel 38 Spl cases from back when they used large pistol primers... other 38 Spl cases from the '70s & '80s... I've got several K 45 Colt and 45 Auto cases that I've never counted how many loadings I've gotten. But, I don't hot rod any of those... my .30-30 ...

So what you're saying is that speed kills! Whereas by your calculation, my 24" bbl in the 45 Colt 1885 @850 fps would last about 47 seconds... 850/2=425; 2/425=.0047; .0047x10,000 = 47 seconds. I would theorize that barrel wear is more dependent on friction than simple speed... in that my lubed...

I've always used 45ACP dies for the 45 Auto, and 45 Colt sizers for the 45 Colt and Cowboy45Special. ACP dies give a slight taper to the case. I don't have any Dillon dies for the ACP, just RCBS, and I'm not sure they're tall enough for the Colt.
