papabear, that is a beautiful animal. You are one lucky man to have a chance to take such nice animal. I hope someday to put one on my wall. Look forward to seeing and hunting with you again.

That was indeed a great combination of luck and skill that bagged that aoudad. The ram was no match for your 35 Remington. Very nice mount!

My elk tenderloins that shared the walk-in cooler with that Aoudad tasted like the Aoudad. I imagine I'd have to soak that ram in milk......

BEAUTIFUL MOUNT!!!!!
Kind regards,
Tycer

I admire your trophy very much. The classification of both goat and sheep has always fascinated me.

Historical note: these amazing animals are often called Barbary sheep for their location within the so-called Barbary States. This name is derived from original natives who called themselves Berbers. Ancient Romans merchant ships were often attacked by ruthless slave trading pirates from this region. Romans named them Barbarians.

There you have it.

Jacob's sheep are named for the passage in Holy Bible where Jacob separated sheep from large family herds for his own. The sheep's introductions across Iberian Peninsula and British Isles followed Roman conquests. Romans moved animals around!

Jacob sheep are commonly found in black spotted form throughout Amish country of SE Pennsylvania. They're easy to tend and are hardy against disease. The four horned configuration makes them attractive to modern trophy hunters.

Back to the "Barbarians" of Lybia, Algeria, Morocco, and Tangiers. American history books rarely mention US Marine & US Navy battles with these cruel slave traders. For a good read: Pirate-Coast-Jefferson, 1st Marines and Secret Mission of 1805. by Richard Zaks. Its BETTER than fiction!! I ordered this book through our local inter-libray loan program. Cost me nothing.
