Good day at the gunshow

Post by jnyork »

Yuma AZ gunshow yesterday . This is a smaller show but usually has interesting things on display. Not so big a crowd in attendance so did not have to elbow around .

Young fellow had a Savage Model 19 NRA on his table, I have a fetish for these older .22 target rifles and so we came to an agreement . Was only in the show about 45 minutes and on my way home with my new treasure.

This rifle , a 1934 issue, is at least 95% and likely better. Metal is unkissed, looks about like it just came off the factory floor. Wood has a couple of tiny flaws that distinguish it from being as new. Got it home and ran a couple of patches through the barrel, borescope revealed bright and shiney.
Came with one original magazine.

Going to the range in the morning and wring it out. . :D

Isn't it a great feeling to find something you really like, right off the bat? 8)

I've come to really enjoy old .22 target rifles with aperture sights for offhand practice. In the past two years Ive bought a winchester 52, winchester 75, and a remington 37. Been buying case lots of CCI standard velocity and having a ball. They are quite cheap considering what you are getting.

Your Savage should be a ton of fun too. Nice grab!

Congrats on the old-school cool .22, I have a thing for the old target 22's and military trainers myself.

Nice. Those have earned a reputation for accuracy, as most on here know. Hope yours is no different.

Always fun to find a .22 rifle that's a good shooter, and in nice shape!

It used to be that major gun shows were held at the NM state fairgrounds but our illustrious governor declared that no gun transactions would be held in state-owned buildings and shut down the large buildings at the fairgrounds. I'm sure she's just so proud that she saved the world.
