But "need" hasn't defined my collecting for a long time.

I had seen several ads for a color case-hardened P-35. I figured the pictures either were touched up, or they picked the best one they could find. But I was out of town earlier in the month, waiting on my wife who was at a bridal shower, and wandered into a Palmetto State Armory. They had one of these in the display case so I asked to see it.
Man, this was great looking. But I wasn't convinced. Then I asked if I could check if it had a magazine disconnect. The counter guy didn't have a clue what I was asking about. So I dropped the magazine - and noticed it was drop free (originals are not). I then racked the slide a few times to ensure he knew it was clear, pointed it at the ground, and pulled the trigger. It fell - no magazine disconnect and the trigger was excellent.
Well, you know what happened next.
The grips are ones I had already (from Exotic Grips by Esmeralda). This is bloodwood, and I think it makes the color case hardening pop.
