Levergun Safari 2008..... WOW!!!!!

Post by ekrodle »

Levergun Safari Hunt:
The experience of the hunting on that trip will stay with me forever!! I was extremely fortunate to be able to participate in several of the member’s hunts in some form or fashion. From holding a camera (shakingly) (Sorry Jac!!!!) to helping skin and process BEAUTIFUL trophies to the heart warming camaraderie at the cabin, I tell you that this was truly one of the most memorable experiences of my life. The hospitality and knowledge and experience that was shown from Joe, Richard and Paul will be the standard that all others will be compared to!!!! This was again a truly awesome experience. I would like to thank everyone that have now become dear friends to me and will from this hunt forward hold a special place in my heart.
Thank you all for allowing me to help each of you or to just be able to gaze in awe at what wonderful trophies were taken.
I would like to thank Joe (86er), Richard, and Paul for the opportunity to hunt at such a wonderful place. I would like to thank Rick (RKrodle) (Uncle Ricky to me) for the invitation to participate in this incredible hunting experience.
The Mouflon Ram that I shot was actually not the ram that I had been eyeing. As a matter of fact, I had really been in such awe of all of the animals that I had seen so far, I had not been able to choose!!!! I had seen a few very nice trophies and we (Paul, Andrew, Jac and I) were actually on our way to look for one in particular that Paul had said really caught my eye earlier in the trip. I apologize to Paul, but for the life of me, I could not remember this animal. My brain was in overload and I was just way to excited to really remember any particular ones!!!! LOL. We were heading out and as we rounded one of the turns we came upon a junction in the road. In that junction stood the magnificent creature that would soon become MY trophy. I told Paul in some form, probably in a new language, that this was the one for me. We got out of the truck and started the stalk that would consume actually around 3 minutes but seemed like 3 hours. The buck had moved from the road into some brush across from us and I moved to the side of the road to be able to get to a clear shot and to get a place to prop my self and rifle on. I did not want to miss this shot and took every precaution to not do so!!! I am sure someone will relate!!! As I rested my eye to the reticule in the scope Paul asked me if I had a clear shot. It seemed as though this was meant for me because the only part of the ram that I could see was from just behind the head to just in front of the rear legs. What more could I ask for???? I slowly put my finger to the trigger of my Savage 270 and gently squeezed until the bullet left for its target. The ram only made it a couple of feet. The shot was perfect and right through the vitals for a clean fast kill. I still have goose bumps!!!! This trip was a first for me to see all of these wonderful animals and a first ram for me!!!! Not one that I will ever forget!!! I hope that others can share my enthusiasm!!!! I would like to again thank everyone on this glorious trip.
Thank You All,
Eric Krodle

Eric, It was a pleasure to meet you and share in your success. Your trophy is absolutely beautiful and I know as I look upon mine taken on this trip, the names of those on that trip will be forever in my memory. Perhaps we will hunt together again. I hope so.

I have to echo Eric's thoughts...the trip, the knowledge and experience, the game, and most especially the comaraderie were an experience I won't ever forget. Eric, we all thank you for your untiring efforts to make the hunt a memorable experience. Whenever anyone needed help, or there was a chore to be done, you and Cayden were there. I'd share a camp with you any day.

Congratulations on a wonderful trophy ram!

A 270 can kill a ram, eh? Must have been a small ram and a lucky shot....

It was a pleasure to hunt with you and you are invited back anytime. I really appreciate all the help you provided - the trip would not have been so smooth without your efforts.

HAHAHAHA!!!! Yeah.... A 270 can take a ram!!!!

Thanks again for letting me join the hunt!!!! I really enjoyed helping everyone out!!! I really like to learn and the best way is to get in there and get your hands dirty!!! I was really timid because I didnt want to mess anything up for anyone but still wanted to get in there and help!!!! Thanks for all the great comments to everyone!!!
I really hope to hear of the next hunting trip. Even if I cant take an animal of my own, I would still love to go and help out. To be able to help and make new friends or see old ones and enjoy their camaraderie would be awesome!!!! So Joe, if you could use some help, I'm your man!!!!

Good to see you around the fire, Eric. It was a true pleasure meeting you. How's that .45 shooting? Hopefully, it won't hang up on you much anymore.

Scott

p.s. Stick with the .270 Win., it's one of my mainstays and can do much more than folks credit it.
