Carousel Gun Rack

Post by Shrapnel »

I bought a carousel gun rack to put in the corner of the gun room. It has 12 slots, but the rifles are held in the rack with rubber fingers that rub the barrel when you put them into or take them out of the rack. So I decided to get some rare earth magnets and put them in the rack to hold the guns in.

Unless you have handled rare earth magnets, you don’t know how strong these things are. While I was trying to pry them apart one slipped around the other and pinched my thumb creating a blood blister…

That is a great idea! What a collection. That room came out amazing! Sorry about the thumb.🤕

Those will actually stick to each other through your finger tip! I found that out with 1/4" ones I had. The bigger they get the more dangerous they become but boy are they fun !

I do the same with the barrel rests in my safes.

We have some 1" cube rare earth magnets at work we use for locating through hull fittings. They stick quite well even through 1 1/4" planking and you can scoot them around until you get them in just right spot to locate the hole.
