It can be formed from 30-30. 375 Special (1.29" case length) is a shortened 375 Super Mag (1.6" case), which in turn is a shortened .375 WCF. There's also the .375 Atomic which splits the difference at 1.4" (yes, I'm ate up with all things .375, but no, I don't have one)
