New to me 454 Casull Rossi

Post by mickbr »

Got it cheap, an old gunsmith had bought one to match his 454 super redhawk and didnt like the recoil so it fired only 40 rounds in 10 years( reportedly). Family is selling the gun off. Appears to be the later/recent generation with the load gate on the tube and I assume this means its also threaded to the action. Sellers photo below, still waiting for it to arrive.

Its crazy those things are not threaded for some kind of muzzle brake to reduce recoil

Yes I reckon it will kick some, but I dont have a use for brakes anyhow, too hard on the ears.

.
Funny how we perceive recoil differently - I wouldn't want to fire a 454 Casull in any handgun, even a heavy Super Redhawk - but I don't mind firing my 16" Rossi in 454, even with Buffalo Bore loads.

You fellers are tougher than me. I thought the 350 gr. jfp at 2100 fps might jar the fillings out of my teeth. My little 300 gr. castie at 1700 though is much more tolerable.
