I don't use it, nor have I learned to prescribe it (it can be dangerous), but I never had heard that it has been shown to lengthen telomeres....

THAT is pretty significant - it basically is the telomere (thought to be the useless tag-end of the chromosome) gradually shrinking was pretty much the cause of ageing, and a probable cause of cancer vulnerability.

So I guess it's good for more than just treating divers for the Bends, and milking cash out of wealthy people with weird symptoms...!

Doc, one area where hyperbaric treatment works is severe burns. Recovery from burns is a long and painful process but to begin that process the patient first has to survive. HBOT (hyperbaric oxygen therapy), by flooding the body, inside and out, helps prevent loss of more tissue due to inadequate oxygenation, helps stimulate growth of new tissue and even more importantly aids in the fight against infection. One thing, not usually mentioned, is that during and shortly after HBOT a sense of euphoria/well being. The patients mental state is as important, some say more so, as traditional treatments.
