.450 Adams cartridge

Post by Scott Tschirhart »

I’ve always been fascinated with the .450 Adams cartridge and I think it’s nearly the perfect design for reloading a revolver quickly.

However I’ve never had any personal experience with it.

Has anyone played with this old cartridge?

Haven't played with it, but it looks a lot like what you would have when seating a 455 Webley bullet in a 45 Special case (45 acp case with a rim like a 45 colt case). Does look like a quick reload would be the end result just like you said.

Scott, the Adams and other old British cartridges and their handguns are fascinating. Here is Ground Zero for discussion of these arms.

That forum is interesting. I was unaware of, and didn't know I needed a No.5 Army Express until now. Thanks enablers...

Being a southpaw I appreciate top breaks. But unless you reload shooting them is an expensive proposition.

For a long time you could find these, especially those in .38 caliber fairly cheap. Sadly not longer true.

I have been telling myself for years why I don't need a top break, again. Thanks for this.

This thread got me to feeling so bad about not having a top-break in the house that in order to lessen the sting, I ordered another Webley Mark VI CO2 pistol to replace the one I gave to my brother back home in Oregon. If any here aren't familiar with it, it looks, feels and operates like the original, and is made by Webley.
Here's a thread I posted over at Airgun Nation. Interesting comments about CO2 pistols vs. rattlesnakes.
