Just acquired a 5.5 inch stainless steel ruger vaquero in .357 magnum . (once it gets out of 7 day jail) what do you all use to clean powder burns off the cylinder and barrel? this thing is clean, previous owner changed out the mainspring out to a lighter weight one.

Personally, I just clean them with whatever gun cleaner you use for anything else. I don't see the point in scrubbing the cylinder down to bare metal, but they say the lead away cloths will clean the stainless, just don't use it on a blue gun, they will remove blueing.

Flitz will remove burn rings easily on stainless

I've always just used a stainless steel or brass brush and Hoppes#9...

A small can of Brasso polish will last a lifetime and clean as well as anything.
