Thanks Jim! I’ll have to tell the story about this later.

That actually brings up a question. Does Texas have any restrictions on knives one can carry?

At the time of that photo, we had pretty restrictive knife laws.

Now, you can carry a sword if you want to.

I keep a machete or two in my truck, right where I can grab one if needed. Learned to do that in Africa and have carried one ever since. Texas doesn't mind and I am happy about it.

Is that Bill Bagwell?

I never did get around to buying a knife from him.

SC is the same way. Little to no restrictions, just punishment if you use a knife in the commission of a crime - as it should be (with all weapons)!

Yes, that was Bill Bagwell. He was a good friend and hunting companion for many years. We took this photo and stuck our knives in our britches and walked over to have a beer at the bar in the Menger Hotel where Theodore Roosevelt interviewed Roughriders.

Looking at his knives it seems that he captured the iconic pattern for every knife he made. They have grand-fathered a lot of off-spring - - -

There’s something about these blades that seemingly comes alive in the hand.

They are quite dangerous.

Didn't know he made knives, but Mr. Bagwell certainly knew how to operate a Sharps black powder cartridge rifle.
