Having the guy surgery this morning in Abilene, TX. Opted to just go with the trans-urethral resection procedure as the logistics and insurance fight to secure more advanced technology was more than I cared to bargain for.
Should be out of the fog late morning and on the path to peeing like a 12-year-old again.
Thanks boys.

Thanks gang. Went well but “it ain’t quite over “ yet. They have to take the aquarium hose out in the morning.
Oh the humanity!
I've had several of those and that's the worst part. Don't watch and think happy thoughts!

Happy to hear you are on the way to better health Bill!
Guys should all track both bioavailable testosterone levels AND estrogen and estradiol levels; keeping the ratios good can prevent prostate enlargement. There may be some truth in iodine reducing risk of prostate cancer, and I'd love to see research as to whether prostate tissue (similar embryologic origin as uterine tissue, and both are stimulated by estrogens) is protected from cancer the same way the endometrium is so dramatically protected by progesterone. But non-patentable things have little way to fund studies and the National Institute of Health is too busy studying whether gay monkeys that are given cocaine prefer bananas versus mangoes...
You'll feel better when the aquarium hose is out.

Thanks doc. As always your insights are appreciated. Aquarium tube is out thank gosh. The urologist said they sent some of the tissue for biopsy as standard practice and find undiagnosed prostate cancer in 5 to 10 percent of patients even with excellent PSAs and no other symptoms even upon examination. As two of my closest friends are on chemotherapy right now for metastatic prostate cancer, I appreciate the extra screening.
One thing I have learned from this is that if you are dealing with benign prostate hyperplasia, don’t put off treatment as it may take longer to get back to normal even after surgery/proton/laser therapy. And why put up with the daily annoyances for longer than you need to? Makes no sense. Sermon over!
As you know Bill I had the TURP surgery back in February this year. I made the mistake of putting up with issues for probably two years until I got to where I was passing blood before I saw my urologist. My prostate had gotten so invasive that she had to remove much of it that had grown into my bladder, so post surgery I passed blood for over 3 weeks. But once I completely healed life has been amazing, and things function like they did in my 20's!
I hope your recovery goes well, and things get back to where they were when you were young too!
