Desperato bullets

Post by Johnnyjr »

Question for those who have used these bullets.
I want to to try these in my 38/357.
Revolver and Rossi 92. How fast can you push these with smokeless powder.
Could they be used for close range deer hunting.
Like up to 50 yards? Thank you, johnnyl

Hey Feller, from what I understand from a buddy who uses them they are super soft for cowboy compition, like 8 or 9 brinell and 850 to 900fps. I shoot a lot of lead cast bullets in my 357 carbines and can tell you that unless you have a real slick barrel that you need at least 16 brinell at 1600fps and I use gas checks above that so as not to melt the butts on the way to the end of the barrel, just my experience... Is there a particular bullet profile you like from them? Most of the major hard cast mfg's use the same molds and would be better suited for your application.

IMO, bullets that soft need to be below 1300 fps, and even that would contingent bore condition, lube effectiveness, powder choice, etc. Be ever watchful for barrel leading.
