That's probably his last name and he could be building a web site about anything. Maybe he does pottery.

Re: Johnson Winchesters
Negative. I saw some examples of his work in the fancy firearms section up in the Denver Bass Pro Shop. Looked to be some mighty fine restorations...with some testimonials by the likes of Tom Selleck. Prices were hovering about the 40k mark.Andrew wrote:That's probably his last name and he could be building a web site about anything. Maybe he does pottery.
I'd just like to know if he does some "low end" work as well....

Curious looking pad on the buttstocks of the two cased take-downs. Also, neat looking express sight. The leaves seem to have buck horns on them.

Re: Johnson Winchesters
Isn't that the same Brad Johnson who is an actor and pal of Selleck? I know he collects and hunts with antique Winchesters. Some pics of his hunts are on the Roosevelt-Browning Hunt Club website.

MikeD,
I'm pretty sure you are correct. I saw a piece featuring Johnson on one of the outdoor shows (Elk Country Journal, I think) about 5 years ago. He was hunting moose IIRC and was using an '86 Winchester in .50 Express that he had converted himself. I'd think that Colorado's Wet Valley would be an unlikely place for him to settle.

Mike D.,
Thanks for the Roosevelt Browning link. I just took a look and Johnson is pictured there with a moose taken on the hunt I remembered seeing and that you mentioned.

Re: Johnson Winchesters
I never could understand why anyone would pay 40K (or even 10K) for a rebuilt rifle.
Theres' plenty of nice originals for a lot less than that.-----------Sixgun

Re: Johnson Winchesters
I am with you sixgun on big money for rebuilt guns, besides I want mine built by Mr Winchester, if you can't find what you want on Cabela's or Leroy Merz you have got to be hard to please, lots in good original condition 86's 92's and 94's from $1500 to about $5000, I am there about zillion times a week drooling and slobering and trying to work out how much I could get for my wife if I sold her to finance one, she never see's the funny side.
