Had a little bit of a nightmare this morning.
I was out at first light to look for fox. The ewes are lambing in January. I have a bait station and camera but nothing is showing there other than birds.

I ended up with a fox coming walking straight to me. See him before but he would dodge me but not this time! The nightmare was that I had just switched ammo from full factory Remington to my small game load! At thirty yards I loosed one and missed ! Once more this fox has been lucky!!
I just know the full factory Remington ammo would of toasted the sucker .
I lumbered my way home with my tail betwixt my legs so to speak when I spied a pheasant.
I stalked it down to thirty yards. The same shot really as the earlier fox, and whallop, straight down the middle! Go figure. Still....I was carrying a levergun....

Don't tell the local shoot but I have taken a few pheasants with my Winchester 9422....
Talking of pheasants, my move to Somerset went well and and I was asked if I would be a beater on the local pheasant shoot, I don't enjoy beating especially when I saw the hills I had to climb but at least I got to meet some local shooters...
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.

Good for you John. Are you settling in and is it warm?
Very nice ! I did a tower shoot yesterday in WVA and after everyone else had taken what they wanted from the pile they told me to take all I wanted so I came home with 11 cock pheasants , 24 hen pheasants and 31 Red Legged (chukar) partridge . And no I didn’t shoot them all think I fired the gun only 57 times yesterday . Took me almost two hours to breast out all those birds. FWIW I used my circa 1937 Parker VHE 12 gauge 32” vent rib Trap Gun .
