Great song and she certainly wasn't singing about sleepy Joe or his fans...

Thanks for that Jim! I remember when Obama was running, which term?, but he made a statement about people that live in my region, that shows how totally blind & ignorant he sadly but truly is! He said "they hide behind guns and the Bible".
Duh!
But that same supposed man, got on his piece of carpet, to bow, pray, or honor, or whatever it is they waste their time doing, to some Mohammed? or Alah, whose carcass is still in the ground!

She put a lot of feeling into that. Makes me think of a couple of men I have known.

I had not heard of this very talented songwriter/singer. I see that her father was a preacher who was very strict raising his kids -- and there always were guns and Bibles in the house. Ms. McBryde says she had a very difficult relationship with her father, who entirely disapproved of any of his children having anything whatsoever to do with the entertainment industry.
Here is another of her songs, really well written if you ask me, both the lyrics and the melody.

I like her because she's old school country. It ain't uncommon for preachers to be strict with their kids, especially in churches that preach hardcore judgment. Often it's done out of concern that their kids miss the wounds they themselves garnered in their journey. Not realizing that we all have those things happen pretty much no matter what. I would venture a guess that in about 10 years she will write a song that says "My Daddy Was Right."Bill in Oregon wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 7:15 am I had not heard of this very talented songwriter/singer. Jim, I agree with your analysis. It is probably even harder on all concerned when a minister is too lenient with his children and they gain a reputation as hell-raising preachers' kids. Sorry to say, but I've known my share of congregants who were merciless when judging the pastor's sons and daughters.

Yep. For a group whose main command was to love like Jesus loves we sure can be a mean bunch sometimes.Bill in Oregon wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 2:31 pm Jim, I agree with your analysis. And it is so simple: judge not, that ye be not judged ...

Here is a two minute sunday school lessen from an unlikely source in the same vein as the o.p. video link but I doubt any here have a rap sheet like the subject of this song (g-b-e tuned cigar box with light strings for a bit of ringing twang)Bill in Oregon wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 8:10 pm And it is so simple: judge not, that ye be not judged ...

I worked with a lady in Mexia, TX who was a preacher's daughter. Nice lady. Married, kids, hard worker, and I respect her. Sherri does not fit the stereotype. I wonder if the stereotype is just from a small percentage.JimT wrote: ↑Mon Oct 17, 2022 3:07 pmYep.
