POLITICS - consequenses for legislating against your 2a

Post by waz »

Excuse my ignorance, but are there any consequenses for your politicians who attempt to legislate against your supreme court ruling? wouldn't that be contempt?

We don't have a Bill of Rights to defend so I don't quite understand how that works over there.

If we can get the voters to pay attention, they don't get re-elected.

I'd say its attempting to undermine the constitution & should be a felony crime. But some say I'm radical.

I'm pretty sure it is a felony - but the politicans don't care. They know that it will take forever and a day to hold them accountable, and then it is just s wrist-slap.

It should be time in jail and no ability to regain their post. But, most of the time rulings allow some room to wiggle and they'll exploit that wiggle room as far as they can and a step further.

Theoretically it is:
TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 13 > § 241

If two or more persons conspire to injure, oppress, threaten, or intimidate any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District in the free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege secured to him by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or because of his having so exercised the same; or

If two or more persons go in disguise on the highway, or on the premises of another, with intent to prevent or hinder his free exercise or enjoyment of any right or privilege so secured—
They shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, they shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.

Andrew Jackson flat out ignored a SCOTUS ruling. His words, I might be paraphrasing, were, "they have ruled now let them enforce it."

most legislators here are willing to throw you under the bus for what they get away with...the constitution means little if any to legislatures such as the state of california and DC...

The government is pretty good at making rules for the citizens, and assigning penalties if the citizens break the rules. But even when the government makes rules for itself, there are no consequences for breaking those rules. Theoretically legislators are sworn to uphold the constitution, but many of them do their darnedest to violate it which sorta sounds like treason to me.
