336 score

Post by Oldncrusty »

Stopped in my no.1 toy store this week and low and behold, there sits not one but two 336's. Hadnt seen one in good shape around in quite a while. This one appears to be one of those "box of shells" models. No carry wear, muzzle, or loading gate wear. Plus some decent figure in the wood. Couldnt pass it up.

That one doesn't have any stories to tell. But it wasn't going to tell them to you anyway.

Nice find!

I know it's just asking prices, but the cheapest one on GI was 800. The other 336 he had was $700. It had a scope of some kind, but was the late model with the safety. No thanks. I have a feeling the owner knew I would want it, and priced it so I would have to buy it.😉 Didnt charge me any tax either.

Hard to say this, but honestly that was a real bargain. I was recently watching an auction on GunBroker for a 1978 Marlin 336 and it went for around $920 without considering SHIPPING, TAX or FFL Fees. Sure wish I had bought more of them back then.

I've been think of buying a good JM Marlin for some time, but never quite have.
Now we all know the rest of that story. What a bite in the a@#, but can Blame no one but the guy in the mirror.
I think what took me by surprise the most is how quickly this happened.

I too wish I hadn't gotten huffy when they and Win 94s hit $500. Coulda been sittin pretty now. Of course it's the same with nearly all quality classic guns. It's called inflation. AKA organized crime.
