Electricity instructor in A&P school had a pulse jet and brought it to class and we fired it up. Boy, that was loud. In his off time, he flew model aircraft and had combat tournaments with them to try to cut off a streamer trailing from the back of the model aircraft.

Kinda reminds me of a buddies Dad, he put a "little"turbofan jet engine on a bicycle- 1 ride was enough for any & all brave enough to try it. 0-60 in less time than ya can pucker to the seat and the possibility of 3rd degree burns took the fun out of it!
