A good tale, well told. Reminds me of Leon. Back in the 1970's I was working as a blocklayer for a fence company in Phoenix, AZ. The block crew consisted of 4 Blacks, 3 Indians and a scraggly hippie .. me. Leon was a laborer on the crew, mixing mud and carrying blocks. He was a "Backdoor Man" given to visiting ladies when their husbands were gone. He carried a .45 Webley, he said for defensive purposes in case a husband came home too early.One summer Leon did not show up for work for two weeks. He called in and said he was in the hospital and would be back to work when he recovered. When he came back to work he was limping. We asked what was wrong and he said he had been shot in the leg. We asked how did that happen and he said as he was going out a window an irate husband had shot him. I asked him about his Webley. He said he was so intent on getting away from the guy shooting at him that he forgot he even had a gun!
