Hmmmm ......................
The deer gun season begins in Virginia this Saturday . So I loaded six rounds of 000000 buck (.415”) 8 pellets per shell . Six with the .775” 730 grain slug and six with the .775” roundball 700 grains

Once fired Remington Industrial hulls . These hulls had all been fired in a kiln gun so swagging the extra ring down for some reason took a bit more effort on the old Herters press .

Interesting. If I had to hunt with a shotgun, I think I would get one of those H&R single shot 10 ga guns and shoot the 3.5 inch OO buck load. 18 pellets ought to crumple any deer in the woods!

I’ve got plenty double 10’s already although all my 10’s are 2 7/8” . And I don’t have to hunt with a shotgun . When I sit at the beginning a carry a rifle AND the shotgun . This shotgun is a skoosh bigger than a 10 . I do this for the heck of it not because it’s required .Scott Tschirhart wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 10:32 am Interesting. I’ve killed deer with double 10’s with 2 7/8” chambers shooting handloaded buck from #3 buck all the way up to 00000 buck . The 000000 buck I put in these shells I don’t think will work very well in the 10 or atleast stack very well . So if I kill one with 000000 buck it’ll be coming out of my 8 gauge . FWIW the deer I shot with 0000 and 00000 buck from the 10’s crumpled on the spot . The deer in the picture below was done in with a circa 1891 Parker EH 10 gauge with factory 28” barrels shooting my handloads of 0000 buck at about 23 yards .Scott Tschirhart wrote: ↑Thu Nov 12, 2020 10:32 am Interesting.
