Anyone heard of a Rodney Story in Oklahoma?

Post by jjames »

I am looking for a metal butt plate for my 1901 Winchester Shotgun. I spoke to the folks at Precision Gun Stocks and they said they lost theirs in the fire. The gentlemen said a guy name Rodney Story cast them but he had no contact information on him. He thought Rodney was in Oklahoma, had something to do with single shot rifles, and worked for a company with Buffalo in the name. Any clues? The ones from Numricks don't come close to fitting either my 1887 or 1901 10 gauges so those aren't an option

There's Buffalo Arms Co. However, they're in Idaho. They do sell a variety of firearm/related accessories

Yeah, I know the guy you're talking about, but not sure if his last name is Story. If it's the same guy I'm thinking of, he used to work at Wolverine Tube in Shawnee, OK when I worked there in 1994. He was a machinist there at the time and quit shortly there after to start up a gun company making one of the Sharps variations in Shawnee, OK. Don't remember the name of the company, but Buffalo ?something? sounds right. IIRC, I thought I heard they didn't make it and got bought out by someone.

Listed in the phone book, there is:

Rodney Storie
613 S PARK AVE
SHAWNEE, OK 74801

Digging around on a couple of web sites, I found this thread that you can dig around on, it appears he's a forum member "Mr 4477".

Here is a longshot if the above link doesn't pan out. There's a Gunsmith in Shawnee that I've had do some work for me, and I think he's been in the area for a long time.

You might give him a call, his email doesn't work properly. I think there's a pretty good chance he would know the person and/or company you're looking for. But, fair warning if you call, he's a good talker.

This might be worth a look as well.

Looks like Frontier Armory is indeed selling castings by Rodney Storie
