Forum Format Poll

Post by AmBraCol »

Well, I took sobenk's suggestion and switched my personal preferences to use the subsilver view of the forum. It's been cleaned up and improved over the last version, it looks pretty good, plus it has the avatars on the left again and is MUCH easier to see new topics, read topics and etc. on the topic list. So, here's a quick question for you. Which would you rather see as the default forum format, prosilver (what we all saw when we first upgraded), or subsilver (similar to what we had before we upgraded).

Now, we're talking about "default" here. The "user control panel" will allow folks to control their preferences anyway. And yes, we've attempted to fix the language thing - but for some reason it didn't "take"... haven't had time to play with it since...

So, I know I'm dumb, but just how to you change this.

Nevermind, I figured it out. I'm so proud! :D

Now I can vote, I guess I prefer the old way, maybe just cause I'm used to it.

AmBraCol,

When I found out I could change it I went back to the Subsilver2. I just couldn't get used to the avatars and stuff on the right side.
Plus this style is easier on my eyes. Not sure why really, but it is.

Well, dumb ole me finally caught on and selected the subsilver format. Much better for me -- print is bigger and everything is pretty much as it should be.

Whatever you want to do is fine with me but since I can do it on my own, I wouldn't want you to go to a lot of bother.

I like the old way better - with the new version selected - it just did not seem right - I feel better now having changed to the old style - almost feels like home now...

I didnt realize we could change it until I saw this thread, I prefer the "old" style.

One question, most of the forums I see, when you put your cursor on a topic, it shows the first line or two of the thread, letting you know what it's about without opening it. Can we do that?
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." -Theodore Roosevelt-

Isnt it amazing how many people post without reading the thread?

It surprises me not that a forum dedicated to leverguns would be biased to keeping the "old forum".

:D Yeah, kind of conservative eh?

I'm agnostic about the default because we can have it our way. Oddly, I'm still enjoying the new style. I like to jar my comfort zone once in a while just to spark the grey cell...

I wonder if the prevailing preference has anything to do with eye dominence, or if we'd always used the 'new' style would we prefer it to the 'old' style?

Gents,

I tried selecting a different format since the recent upgrade, and I did NOT get a choice. Apparently, there are a lot of features that are not enabled. sobenk must have been poking around at just the right time.

I still would like to request that hyperlinks OPEN IN A NEW WINDOW, please.

The old format is much easier to read for these old eyes.

The only reason I like the traditional (subsilver) is that the posts are easier to differentiate between.

The language thing? You want it to just say English so we can't criticize the queen or you want more languages?
