Wow! I am pretty pleased when I get that sort of grouping at 100 yards. Even if he never gets that good again, he did set the record. OK, he shoots more than I do. That helps, but number of rounds fired in a year is not all there is to it. He has some amazing trigger control control. Congratulations to him on a great grouping.

So many variables go into making a 1,000 yd. shot, and then repeating it 5 times well! Many of the variables are beyond the shooter's control, but a great shooter knows how to deal with them, and adjust.
Awesome ! I’ve gotten so I really enjoy shooting cartridges using tiny cases at paper as well . I’ll just keep mine at the more plain vanilla 100 and 200 yards . I suppose one of these years I’m going to need to buy a nice old Remington 40X in 222 or 6x47 ! Also wouldn’t mind a pair of newer 40X’s in 22 and 6mm PPC . Be kinda fun to shoot the old favs against the new favs

Vall, I agree. Isn't that a fabulous rifle he was shooting?
I'm tickled to hit the 1,000 yd. dinger with my old single shots, and it's way larger than his group! I think it's 24" round, and makes a beautiful ding when it does get struck!

Ain't THAT the truth!
Fabulous shooting. And undoubtedly a wee bit of luck, eh?
I mean if a woodchuck passes gas ANYWHERE along that 1,000 yard corridor, there
goes your group......
Still, a remarkable achievement.

Better be a dang tall woodchuck to be in the path between shooter and 1,000 yd. target! Even with a flat shooting 6BR Ackley Improved there's a pretty decent arc in the flight for 1,000 yds.
The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....

I wonder how long that record will stand?
As to a timetable I dunno , but I betcha someone breaks the 1” @ 1000 yards mark . I can remember 15 or so years ago most of the local 1000 yard guys here in central VA were happy if they stayed under 6” at 1000 yards .
