AW CARP!

Post by GunnyMack »

Yesterday I decide to do yard work then go fishin in the afternoon.while I was planting a couple shrubs I let the girls out so they could run around and burn some energy.
So about noon I left, k9s tuckered out and by the time I got home Parker is lame on her right rear!
So now we are headed to the vet for a professional diagnosis, I'm afraid she has torn an ACL...

We've seen that many times here over the years. They usually work themselves out on their own.

Funny thing.....one time I was out back and one of our Yorkies got too close to a crazy horse. I'll never forget it...the horse kicked the dog and the dog flew about 15 -20 yards ...just like a line drive baseball. The dog laid there for a day or two and was like new in a few days.---6

Dogs are incredibly tough and resilient animals. Part of the problem is that their pain threshold is so high you may overlook something not realizing how bad the dog is hurt. Two days ago my Setter was limping all morning and after noon he was flying through the woods and hopping like a gazelle round the trees keeping the squirrels where they belong. He must have realized we saw through his ploy. :D

Well I learned today that young dogs aren't prone to ligament tears so the vet doesn't think she has torn it.
Did blood test looking for tick borne diseases-NEGATIVE.
Doc did range of motion, deep tissue prodding and she yelped so he thinks it is probably a strain/sprain due to her growing. Some anti inflammatory for couple weeks.
So I have to do my best to keep her calm( yeah right) for a couple weeks.
